Rafael Silveira – Popsicledelic Trip :: Flávia Itiberê – Pause
KP PROJECTS is proud to present solo exhibitions by Brazilian Artists Rafael
and Flávia Itiberê, two artists with distinctly individual creative worlds who
also happen to be husband and wife.
Each artist brings their own vision of figuration and surrealism to the gallery.
Silveira’s meticulously rendered paintings move between portraiture, dream
logic, and the strange poetry of the subconscious, while Itiberê’s handmade
textile works explore the body, identity, memory, and the emotional spaces
we inhabit.
Shown side by side as two separate solo exhibitions within the same space,
each artist’s work offers a fascinating conversation between singular
perspectives, connected by a shared life, yet unmistakably their own.
“Popsicledelic Trip” unfolds from an idea that runs through my work: visual synonymies. By this I mean formal correspondences between seemingly unrelated things, moments in which one image unexpectedly recognizes itself in another. These affinities are not merely playful associations. For me, they are material signs of a deeper truth: the interconnection of everything that exists in the universe. Forms
echo across time, matter, memory, nature, psyche, and spirit. A face can become a landscape, a body can become architecture, an ornament can become a cosmic event. Through these fusions, painting reveals connection as not only symbolic, but structural and poetic.” - Rafael Silveira
“Working with textiles has always taught me to experience time differently. Embroidery, crochet, weaving, and construction require attention, repetition, and patience. It’s a meditation. There is something deeply connected to nature in this slow process. A cotton seed takes time to germinate, a flower unfolds at its own pace, buds slowly open revealing what has been forming within. Textile carries this same rhythm: slow, repetitive, and organic. It asks us to trust what is happening beneath the surface, even when we cannot yet see what is becoming. Throughout “PAUSE”, figures and forms transform, fragment, overlap, and reconnect. Threads, knots, empty spaces, light, and shadow give physical presence to sensations that are often difficult to name.” - Flávia Itiberê
