Lori Nelson has an extraordinary ability to capture the spirit of the age in her paintings. She says these are “powers that are a little bit beyond what most people have. I like the idea of being armed with supernatural powers. I like it if people are owning their power and controlling their power, especially girls and young women.” Her elemental control is the flow state of self-assured presence. “I like to think of my work as a parallel universe,” says Nelson. “I don’t want it to be totally recognizable, almost like it’s on the tip of your tongue or it’s something close to something that you remember from childhood, or cartoons, or Disney, but not exactly – a parallel or equal universe."
